MarkGuard

For Etsy, Amazon Merch, Redbubble & Shopify sellers

Catch trademark problems before Etsy does.

One trademarked phrase in a title or tag can get a listing taken down, or a shop suspended. MarkGuard checks your titles, tags and descriptions against 1.7 million live US trademarks while you write them.

Launch offer: every feature free, no limits, until 1 January 2027. Chrome extension coming soon to the Chrome Web Store. The free checker below works today.

How it works

The Chrome extension sits on your listing editor and warns you before you hit publish.

1

Write your listing as usual

Open a listing on Etsy, Amazon Merch, Redbubble or Shopify. MarkGuard reads the title, tags and description fields.

2

See risky words instantly

Risky fields get a red outline and a panel lists each match: the phrase, the trademark owner and why it matters.

3

Fix it before you publish

Swap the phrase and the warning clears. No more guessing, no more takedown emails weeks later.

Fewer false alarms

Many words are registered by someone. Flagging all of them is useless, so MarkGuard grades each match.

Matched to your product

A mark registered for shirts matters on a shirt. One registered only for car parts usually does not. We check the class that fits what you sell.

Everyday words stay quiet

"Adventure", "Cat" or "Best Dad Ever" are not flagged just because someone registered them. Coined names and catchphrases are.

Known enforcers first

Brands that regularly file takedowns against print-on-demand sellers are flagged across all product types.

Questions

Is MarkGuard free?

Yes, completely, until 1 January 2027: unlimited checks and live scanning for everyone. After that a free plan with 10 checks a day stays, and Pro costs $9 a month or $79 a year.

Where does the trademark data come from?

From the public US trademark register (USPTO). We keep live word marks in the classes print-on-demand products fall into (apparel, mugs, paper goods, phone cases, home decor, bags, jewelry, toys), plus every live mark of brands known for takedowns. That is about 1.7 million marks, refreshed weekly.

Is this legal advice?

No. MarkGuard is an information tool that helps you spot likely problems. It can miss things and it can flag things that are fine. For a definite answer, check the official register or ask a trademark attorney.

Does it cover trademarks outside the US?

Not yet. MarkGuard checks US registrations, which is what most Etsy and Amazon takedowns are based on. It also does not check images or copyrighted artwork.

Do you store my listings?

No. The text is checked and immediately discarded. See the privacy policy.

How do I activate Pro?

After checkout you get a license key by email. Paste it into the MarkGuard extension popup under "Have a license key?".

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Cancel any time from the link in your receipt email; Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. See the refund policy.
