Privacy Policy

MarkGuard is built to need as little data as possible. This page explains what we handle and why.
Listing text you check
When you use the free checker or the extension, the text of the listing fields (and their labels and the product type you chose) is sent to our server, compared with the trademark data, and discarded. We do not store it or use it for anything else.
What the extension can see
The extension only runs on the seller pages of Etsy, Amazon Merch, Redbubble and Shopify where you create and edit your designs and listings, and reads the text fields there. On Etsy and Shopify it reads fields only on listing and product editor pages, never on order or customer pages. It does not read other sites or your browsing history.
Data stored in your browser
The extension stores your product type choice and, if you have Pro, your license key in Chrome's extension storage, so they are kept between sessions and across your signed-in Chrome browsers.
IP addresses
Our server uses your IP address to apply rate limits and the free daily check limit. These counters are kept in memory only and reset at least daily. We do not keep access logs of checks.
License keys and payments
Purchases are handled by Polar (polar.sh) as merchant of record. Polar collects your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy; we never see your card details. To confirm Pro, our server sends your license key to Polar and receives whether it is active.
Service providers
- Hetzner (Germany): hosts our server.
- Cloudflare: delivers and protects our website traffic.
- Polar: payments and license keys.
No tracking
MarkGuard does not use advertising trackers or sell data.
Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you, or for it to be deleted, by writing to [email protected]. Because we do not store listing text or accounts, there is usually nothing beyond your Polar purchase record.
Changes
We will update this page if anything here changes.
